New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

New Year's Resolutions

New Year is a magical time of year when many of us think we should plan and make changes to bring our homes to the place we want them to be. Unfortunately, some homes fall behind, and it’s hard to keep track if you don’t write it down- and for others, it can be hard to settle on just a few.

These are the top home New Years’ resolutions and how they can help your property!

1. Update Out of Date Roof or Siding

Your roof and siding have an expiration date. From the moment you install it, these parts of your property should only last between twenty to fifty years, depending on the material they’re made out of.

If you’re unsure about how old these materials are on your property, it’s a good idea to stop and look at what shape they’re in. When a roof is out of date, it will start to discolor, shingles will curl, it will leak, and it may even begin to sag. Your siding will show its age by warping, cracking, and falling apart. This could let moisture through and could severely damage your property when not replaced.

2. Give Your Kitchen a Mini Remodel

If you want to boost your property’s value, the best thing you can do is stop and do a mini remodel! Mini kitchen remodels have a higher return on investment than a classic large remodel and can still boost the attractive features of this room.

To do this, consider replacing older appliances or updating the tile backdrop and possibly your floors. Try not to spend more than 5% of your home’s value on this room when you’re remodeling unless it’s severely out of date and in rough shape.

3. Add An Oasis to Your Backyard

Your backyard should be a space where you want to vanish and enjoy fresh air and peace, and quiet. You can do this by creating an outdoor kitchen! Here you can cook, entertain, and enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds your home.

If you want to take your lawn further, you could also build a deck or create a comfortable lounging space that can make ample space for seating. There are plenty of options and lots of chances for creativity in this.

4. Create A Safety Backup For Yourself

The best thing you can do in the new year is to make sure your home is able to handle anything. This means getting in gear for things like power outages, floods, storms, and more.

Starting with power outages, going with a propane supplier will give you a chance to have an awesome generator that will keep your home on and comfortable even when the power goes out. This is also great at ensuring your oven, dryer, and so much more stay comfortable.

There’s No Better Time to Update

Whether you’re updating your property to sell or you simply want to make your home into a paradise in the new year, consider some of these options! You’ll be amazed at the changes they bring.
