Introduction
One of the industry’s forerunners in terms of online rental booking was Airbnb, which is still a top option today. But criticism has dogged its development nevertheless. Its identification verification measures are seen as being excessively invasive by some. Others are skeptical of the two-way evaluation process. Others feel that the price structure isn’t sufficiently clear. Some even avoid it since it has been used to rent homes in contested Israeli-Palestinian territories.
Although no company (or individual) is flawless, we can understand if you have good enough reasons to stop using Airbnb. You have two methods for canceling your Airbnb account, which is why we wrote this post. You can temporarily deactivate your account, which retains your data in case you wish to use Airbnb again in the future. Alternatively, you may permanently delete your account. We’ll go through these two options and more.
Before canceling or deleting your Airbnb account, read these crucial cautions.
1. To entirely erase, you must prove your identity.
For security reasons, if you decide to delete your account entirely, Airbnb may ask you a few questions about yourself and your profile. They only want to confirm that you are the one canceling the account and not an uninvited party.
2. They will cancel all of your current bookings.
Any current reservations made by you or with you will be instantly canceled, whether you are a tourist who has reserved a place to stay or a host anticipating a guest.
3. Your listings and profile will be made invisible.
Your profile will be hidden from other users of Airbnb, meaning they won’t be able to find out more about you, including whether you’d be a decent guest or a pleasant host with a lovely place to stay. Additionally, if you publish any of your homes on Airbnb, no one else will be able to view them (or, therefore, book them).
4. Your messages and reviews won’t be hidden.
Other information you’ve given to Airbnb will still be viewable even if your profile and listings won’t be. These include any evaluations of accommodations, hosts, or visitors. Other Airbnb users may still see any private communications you have sent to them (unless they choose to delete those messages themselves).

5. Temporarily deactivating your account DOES NOT erase its information.
If you just temporarily deactivate your Airbnb account, Airbnb won’t destroy your account data; as a result, your details and property listings will still be available when you return. Please send a message to Airbnb or ask for a call from them to inform them that you’d want to reactivate your account. Additionally, you may reach them at 1-855-424-7262 toll-free (1-855-4-AIRBNB).
6. If you remove your account, not all of Airbnb’s information on you will be lost.
Even if you completely delete your Airbnb account, Airbnb may keep some of the information you provided to them or create on the site if they are allowed or authorized to do so by law. On the plus side, some of the information could be anonymized so that it no longer relates to you as a user.
7. You cannot get your account restored after it has been deleted.
You won’t be able to reactivate your account, access it, or retrieve any information from it once Airbnb has finished deleting it if that is the option you choose. You’ll need to start the registration procedure again if you want to use Airbnb again. So consider your options thoroughly before choosing!
