Steel structures can be designed in one of three ways: the simple design, the continuous design, or the semi-continuous steel design. To make design calculations manageable, it has been assumed that joints in structures behave as pinned or rigid. In minimalist architecture, the connections are conceptualised as flawless pins.That connected elements do not rotate relative to one another in response to an applied moment is a crucial tenet of the continuous design paradigm.
