The invention of headphones has brought special comfort and vivid emotions to our everyday life. It’s nice to hear your favorite music everywhere: on the street, in the store, transport. It is important that the sounds do not disturb anyone. The young population of the planet has firmly “grown together” with gadgets and did not immediately notice the onset of problems.
It turns out that such a small and useful item can destroy our health if used incorrectly.
Importance of wearing headphones correctly
Judge for yourself – the human ear can perceive sounds up to 90 decibels, and the volume of many headphones is designed for 130 decibels.
There is another problem associated with the improper wearing of headphones. This is their prolapse from the ears. Often gadgets are put on in a hurry. If they do not fit snugly into the ear canal, noise cancellation may be reduced, the sound quality may deteriorate, and the earbuds may fall out.
It is also important to choose the right size of ear cushions for on ear headphones. Manufacturers offer different products: small, medium, and large. It is better to start testing with the average option since it is designed for the average user. If the headphones are uncomfortable, you should listen to your feelings:
- The liner bursts the ear canal – which means you need a smaller size of the product.
- The gadget is poorly felt – a larger nozzle is needed.
- Those with small ears may not be suitable for multi-speaker headphones, as they are larger than single-speaker models. The correct size of the product will create comfortable conditions for wearing it and will not harm your health.
- This will allow you to best fit the gadget into the ear canal. More demanding users can order the so-called custom. For these headphones, the ear pads are made in the form of a cast of the wearer’s auricle. They will sit perfectly in your ears, but you will no longer be able to let your friends vilify them. And one more minus: custom headphones are very expensive, but they are worn indefinitely and have an original design.
- You should also pay attention to the material from which the ear pads are made (silicone, foam). PVC models fit more tightly into the ear canal, which improves sound quality. But silicone products will sit more comfortably, as they are more pliable and take the desired shape. In addition, silicone is an anti-slip material, which helps to fix the gadget well in the ear canal even while running.
- The most inexpensive nozzles include sponge products, they also do their job well, sit tight in the ears, and have a secure grip with the headphones. Properly selected material will make the presence of gadgets in the ears invisible and improve the perception of sound.
Signs of improper wearing
Incorrect wearing and use of headphones do not pass without a trace for their owner. The health consequences can be very different:
- Constantly listening to loud music directed directly into the ear canals, you can lose your hearing.
- Hearing loss is also associated with the formation of plugs resulting from the pushing of sulfur into the ear canals (this happens during a sharp putting on the earbuds).
- When wearing headphones incorrectly, headaches often occur.
- A person begins to feel weak and overworked.
- Discomfort from wearing an unsuccessful gadget leads to irritability.
- For those who do not periodically change the ear pads, signs of an infectious rash may appear in the ear opening.
